Russell's teapot, sometimes called the Celestial Teapot, was an analogy first coined by the philosopher Bertrand Russell (1872–1970), intended to refute the idea that the burden of proof lies upon the sceptic to disprove unfalsifiable claims of religions. In an article entitled "Is There a God?" commissioned (but never published) by Illustrated magazine in 1952, Russell wrote:



“ If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is an intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time. ”

intussen in de Katholieke kerk...

De reactie van de katholieke kerk op een Braziliaans meisje van 9 jaar oud, waarbij een tweeling is geaborteerd. Ze raakte zwanger doordat haar stiefvader haar vanaf haar 6e misbruikte. Hij misbruikte ook haar 14 jarige gehandicapte zusje.

In de katholieke kerk nemen ze het dan ook niet zo nauw met ontucht of seksueel misbruik: als men berouw heeft getoond verdient men een tweede kans... (NRC).
Om de ontuchtzaken door priesters te binnen het aartsbisdom in Boston te schikken kostte de Katholieke Kerk in 2003 nog 85 miljoen dollar. En in Polen is de Kerk woedend omdat priester Andrzej, die ze sinds 1995 ongestoord zijn seksuele gang lieten gaan en zelfs aanstelden als toezichthouder op alle katholieke scholen, door de pers 'aan de schandpaal wordt genageld'. De Poolse bisschoppen zijn boos op de krant Wyborcza. „Het verwijt dat de kerk pedofielen verbergt is ongegrond. Als iemand zich het recht toe-eigent iemand anders te veroordelen zonder proces dan is dat misbruik”, aldus bisschop Tadeusz Pieronek.

Dus; seksueel misbruik gebeurt niet in de Kerk, als het gebeurt komt het tot een schikking en niet voor justitie, en worden de daders vergeven als ze berouw tonen.
Maar abortus na de verkrachting van een 9 jarig meisje... daar moet de moeder van het meisje voor aangeklaagd worden!
